Hey all you streakers, here’s the matchup I like tonight. #22 St Mary’s is red hot coming into Spokane, WA riding an impressive 15 game winning streak. #20 Gonzaga, however, is riding a nice little 6 game streak of their own. Comparing these conference rivals, the first thing I notice is the notable wins and losses between both teams.
First off the notable Wins for Gonzaga:
Oklahoma State, Maryland, Tennessee (Twice!), Indiana, and Washington State.
Notable Wins for St. Marys:
Providence, and Oregon
You can see the difference in their strength of schedule. Gonzaga does have four losses but this includes a road trip to Arizona, and an overtime battle against 2nd ranked UConn. St. Mary’s, with only one loss, really hasn’t played anyone that tough and they lost at UTEP.
In their last match-up, March 1st 2008, Gonzaga won 88-76.
I think Gonzaga, being at home, wins in a tough game by 5.
I give this a confidence ranking of 8/10 just because I believe Gonzaga will win but St. Mary’s is on a roll right now (Can’t deny that) and it is a conference game featuring two undefeateds so look out for a tight battle.

But you sure as hell can’t count the LOOsiers as a notable win for Gonzaga haha.
The only thing that scares me is the zags home loss to Portland State. I feel like they are a very up and down team, yes beating Tennessee twice, a Tennessee team that is probably one of the most up in the air squads out there.
Gonzaga and St. Mary’s always seem to split, each winning at home year in and year out. And when they don’t split, its Gonzaga winning both matchups.
