The second men’s semifinal begins tonight at 3:30am ET with Rafa the great, taking on the suprise of the tournament, the fellow left-handed Spaniard, Fernando Verdasco.

As I’m sure everyone already knows, Nadal is 7-0 all-time against his fellow countrymen.

There is no question in my mind that Nadal will win this match, there is no sign pointing towards an upset, or a lapse from Nadal whatsoever.

If matches were to be fixed in professional sports, this one would definitely be one of those, because cmon, everyone wants to see another Rafa-Fed final,  see if Fed can get some of his glamour back and get that 14th grand slam championship.

Alright, now to the statistics.  Rafa owns Verdasco 15-1 in total sets won.  The only set won by Verdasco being in a 2-6 7-6(3) 7-6(3) play on Grass (Rafas worst court) a couple of years back.

Okay, so what are the chances that Verdasco, a similar player to Rafa yet worse in most areas, will pull off a set against Rafa?

The chances aren’t too good my friend.

Rafa has not dropped a set so far at the Aussie,  with the closest match being his latest against Gilles Simon with an identical score to that of the Federer/Roddick match 6-2, 7-5, 7-5

Rafa is the #1 Player in the world, and will win this match in straight sets.

Last year at this same point, Rafa was going in as one of the favorites to win the title, only to get wiped off of the court by the young Jo-Wilfred Tsonga.

With Tsonga out of the picture, Rafa will be looking to claim his very first Aussie Open and I believe he will do that by quickly disposing of Verdasco  in order to save himself for Federer in the Final.

Nadal in 3.  Count it.
