Today the Miami Heat traded PF Shawn Marion and PG Marcus Banks to the Toronto Raptors for C Jermaine O’Neal and SF Jamario Moon.
This trade has been in discussion between the two clubs for weeks now, and the Heat thought it was time to make the move. This comes just one day after Shawn Marion won the Heat the game with a go-ahead dunk with 1.1 seconds left in the game.
Included in the deal as well is the maximum in cash consideration allowed by the league. Toronto will get $3 million. Also the Heat will get a conditional first-round pick sometime between 2010 and 2015. They will get it when the Raptors make the playoffs sometime after this season. As well if the Heat do that get that pick in 2010 they will receive an additional second-round pick that season. On top of all of that the Heat get a $4.2 million trade exception that will allow them to make a trade even if the salaries do not match up.
This year all of Marion’s numbers are down. In his career he has average 17.9 PPG, 10.0 RPG, and 2.0 APG. This season he is averaging 12.0 PPG, 8.7 RPG, and 1.8 APG. A drop off of 5.9 PPG, 1.3 RPG, and 0.3 APG.
Banks number are down as well although he has played less. In his career Banks has averaged 6.1 PPG, 1.6 RPG, 2.2 APG, 0.8 SPG and 16.6 Minutes Per Game. This season he is averaging 2.6 PPG, 0.9 RPG, 1.4 APG, 0.6 SPG, and 10.6 Minutes Per Game. His drop offs are 3.5 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.2 SPG, and 6.0 Minutes Per Game.
O’Neal’s Blocks Per Game are up to 2.0, his PPG are down to 13.5, his APG are up to 1.6, and his RPG is down to 7.0.
Moon’s Points, Rebounds, and Blocks are all down this season as well as his minutes per game. Although his assists are up.
This is a great trade for both teams, and will benefit the Raptors i the future and the Heat’s trip that they are hoping goes deep into the playoffs. Now there is only one question…. Chris Bosh anyone?

Its an equal trade except for Jamario for Marcus Banks… Who the hell is Marcus Banks?
